Who's Who at the Israel Folkdance Festival of Boston
The Israel Folkdance Festival of Boston is produced by a committee of eleven volunteers, some of whom have been organizing this show for over thirty years. Together we have hundreds of years of experience performing, choreographing, and presenting Israeli folk dance. None of us is paid.
Our goal is to ensure the future of Israeli folk dancing in the Boston area by providing resources and presenting an annual show in which new generations of dancers can learn from their fellow dancers in an exciting and cooperative environment. The committee members work through the year to plan the Festival. While all of us participate in reviewing audition tapes from our performing groups, individually we focus on the specific activities it takes to make this show happen.
David Beckman runs the lighting during the show
and coordinates with the facilities staff at Kresge
auditorium.
Bernie Bernstein is the webmaster for our site www.bostonfestival.org,
and also manages our audience mailing list.
Janie Chefitz processes ticket orders and runs the
box office.
Ellen Garfield controls security in the auditorium
and works with the vendors in our Israeli Fair.
Susan Gruber prepares all our printed materials
and sends out press releases and publicity.
Ruth Leah Kahan is liaison to our performing
groups, getting them the information they need and
collecting what we need from them.
George Kirby prepares the music, searching for
quality recordings and splicing and editing each piece.
Renee Myers prepares our official filings and
sells t-shirts.
Becca Rausch choreographs and teaches the show's
opening and finale.
Ira Vishner prepares the agenda for our meetings,
keeps the day of the show on track, and solves problems.
